Smart building solutions and network infrastructure provider Scenariio has welcomed a new recruit to help with a special project.

Jack Hall has joined the firm as software engineer to produce a smart building dashboard for use by SMEs in a partnership between Nottingham Trent University and Scenariio, funded by Innovate UK.

Looking at smart technology, integrations and software development, Jack has been tasked with developing a platform that can manage and visualise data from smart buildings including heatmaps, energy, occupancy and environmental data points that is produced from sensors and beacons embedded in smart lighting, security and AV systems.

This data will then be configured into a customer dashboard that can provide alerts and reports on system performance displayed on digital signage platforms in locations across their buildings.

George Pritchard, technical director at Scenariio, said: “We’re really pleased to have Jack on board to lead development of this important part of managing a smart building.

“This project will deliver a customer-friendly way of displaying the data that makes a smart building such a worthwhile investment for SMEs.”

Jack, who graduated from Nottingham Trent University last year, is already making headway in developing the dashboard.

He said: “I was delighted to join Scenariio at such an exciting time for the business and this project represents a fantastic opportunity to work on something tangible that will hopefully be of great help to businesses who embrace smart technology.”

According to Scenariio, smart technology is set to play a major role as businesses prepare their workplaces for the post-pandemic world and legislation increases to contribute to carbon neutrality.

The firm said that efficiencies it provides can help drive cost and energy savings, while increasing staff wellbeing and productivity.

As part of the research being done by Jack, Scenariio is asking any businesses operating from, responsible for, or looking to take on a building, to take five minutes to fill out a survey to help inform the SME dashboard going forward. The survey can be found here.

By way of thanks, a winner will be picked at random from the completed forms to win a £50 bar tab at Bustler Market based with Scenariio in The Chocolate Factory in Derby.
