Derby College Group has launched a special programme of courses for adults to help them retrain, re-skill and even reinvent their career options.

Based at The Roundhouse technical and professional skills college, at Pride Park, the programmes include Childcare, Plumbing and Gas Training, Professional Construction and Motor Vehicle.

Community learning programmes are based at the college’s Ilkeston site, while options based at Broomfield Hall, in Morley, include those in the career areas of Agriculture, Animal Care, Arboriculture, Equine, Floristry and Sport.

People interested in developing skills in areas such as Business and Professional Education, Training and Development have a wide range of choice, with study programmes available which are classroom-based, delivered in the individual’s own workplace and with distance learning options.

Construction programmes – including Brickwork, Carpentry, Painting and Decorating, Plastering, Plumbing and Plumbing, as well as Hospitality and Catering programmes – are available for learning and assessment in the workplace.

Distance learning options include a range of Health and Social Care and Retail programmes and a diverse programme of statutory and development training delivered by the Roundhouse Thinking team.

Jennifer Rehman, the colleges assistant principal of community and adult education, said: “At DCG we offer a range of courses for adults that will help people to gain the necessary skills and qualifications to further their career or progress on to a higher level of study.

“From April onwards some of our courses will be free for adults depending on their personal circumstances.

“There are also a number of distance learning courses to boost career options or pursue a new interest.

“Distance learning is an ideal way to gain a nationally recognised qualification or develop skills while studying online with the flexibility to fit in with people’s other work and family commitments in the comfort of their own home.”
