Deal struck for prime Derby site
A deal has been struck to sell a prime site in Derby paving the way for its long-awaited redevelopment.
Clowes Developments is to sell the former Derby Fireplace Company building and surrounding land to London Metric for an undisclosed sum.
The site, which sits at the main A52 entrance to the Wyvern Retail Park, has been vacant for several years while Derby City Council carried out major works to improve access to Pride Park.
Permission has already been secured to build an M&S food store on the site – and it is understood that demolition of the derelict building could begin this summer.
Thomas Clowes, land and planning surveyor at Clowes Developments, said: “The deal marks a bright new future for this prominent site.
“We are delighted to see London Metric progress their plans to enhance an already thriving commercial hub with the addition of an M&S food store.”
