Cubo toasts its first anniversary since Derby launch
Staton Young has marked the first anniversary since it launched Cubo – its serviced office concept in the heart of Derby city centre.
At the start of February 2020, just before the first coronavirus lockdown, Cubo opened its doors in The Old Post Office building, in Victoria Street.
The site included free in-house barista coffee for members, as well as free beer. Meeting rooms, printer stations, stationary, large open work spaces and luxury offices.
As well as the offices, Cubo also introduced flexible memberships, such as day passes, hot desks and designated desks.
Today, within the 60% of the Derby site that is currently occupied, its largest member is LEAD IT, which arrived in March last year.
The firm, which provides services to the education sector, started with a 20-desk office.
Since then, the firm has taken on another two large offices at Cubo, tripling in size.
In October, Cubo opened a second site, in Nottingham. A third site in Sheffield is due to open in April, with plans in the pipeline for more across the country.
Founded in 2012, the Staton Young Group, which has a number of business centres in its portfolio, is owned by Marc and Rebecca Brough.
They decided to introduce Cubo to provide a more “modern” way to work with large communal space for co-working, alongside private offices.
Rebecca said: “We always listen to our members and try and do what we can, which is definitely one of the keys to our success.”
Marc said: “We are extremely delighted with the popularity and success of Cubo during its first year, even during the current pandemic.
“We are looking forward to seeing what success the next year brings.”
