Bus company trentbarton has added 10 greener buses to one of is services which connects Derby with a number of county towns.

The buses, which emit less nitrogen dioxide than a new diesel car, have joined its sixes service, which connects Derby with Belper, Matlock, Bakewell and Ripley.

The buses have striking graphics portraying landmarks on the routes into the heart of Derbyshire.

The ultra-low emission buses are now delivering cleaner and more comfortable journeys every 15 minutes between Derby and Belper, and twice an hour to Ripley and the hourly service to Matlock and Bakewell.

The buses are also being used on the 6X hourly non-stop express service along the A38.

The vehicles feature the latest Euro VI technology, which minimises emissions and have a much smoother ride than the vehicles they are replacing. They also offer extra leg room, USB charging points and free WiFi.

All of the buses are also Covid-secure, with hand sanitiser for customers, screens for the drivers and overnight deep cleaning, plus regular cleans each day at Derby Bus Station.

Jeff Counsell, managing director at trentbarton, said: “This is a big step up for our customers on the sixes.

“They will enjoy more comfortable and productive journeys on board these super-clean buses, which will also contribute to cleaner air.

“Making bus travel a more attractive transport choice is at the heart of our ongoing investment in our fleet and our teams of friendly drivers.”

All the sixes buses welcome payment by trentbarton’s new mango app, contactless debit and credit cards, Apple and Android devices, saver and concessionary passes. Cash can also still be used.
