Former Derby tax office bought
Property firm Staton Young has secured a deal to buy Derby’s former tax office building.
The company, which is owned by Marc and Rebecca Brough, has bought Northgate House, which borders Agard Street and Friar Gate, for an undisclosed sum.
The building, which offers 45,000 sq ft of floor space across five storeys, has stood unoccupied since HM Revenue and Customs centralised its operations to Nottingham.
Marc said: “I am very pleased to have completed the deal and add Northgate House to our portfolio.
“We are always looking for new properties to develop in Derby to help improve the city centre.”
Northgate House is predominately open plan with an impressive frontage facing Friar Gate.
The building benefits from a number of car parking spaces and the property itself is immediately adjacent to the inner ring road, resulting in close access to all parts of the city centre.
According to Staton Young, it is currently exploring various different options regarding the future of the site, with works planned to start some time this year.
The Staton Young Group was founded in 2012 and is wholly owned by Marc and Rebecca.
The group owns numerous serviced offices across the Midlands.
At the start of last year, it opened a new brand of modern co-working space in Derby called Cubo.
The Cubo concept offers a more modern way to work, with large communal space for co-working and private offices.
The firm followed up the Derby opening with a Cubo in Nottingham. A third Cubo site is set to open in Sheffield soon.
