Padley donation innovation
An innovation to help with 24/7 charity donations has been launched by Bondholder Padley Group.
With the help of Liz Fothergill CBE, the newly appointed Lord Lieutenant of Derbyshire, the charity's shop on East Street, Derby, now has a contactless donation window at the front of the store, allowing shoppers to donate a fixed fee of £3 with a simple tap and go, without ever having to step foot inside.
The charity worked with Liberty Pay to implement the technology; and Griffith Foods donated the set up fees and first year's running costs of the window scanner.
Allan Shaw, Chairman of Padley Group, said: “Most of Padley's work is funded by donations from the people of Derby and Derbyshire. We hope this new way of giving, kindly provided by Griffiths Foods, will encourage those passing along East Street to contribute to our work with homeless people in what are very challenging times. And it couldn't be easier!”
Liz Fothergill, Chairman of Bondholders Derby Museums and Pennine Healthcare, added: “It was a delight to visit the Padley Hub and learn about the launch of the contactless window donations. What a great idea, an innovative and easy way to donate safely and securely toward the amazing work of Padley, helping those in our Community who have fallen on difficult and challenging times , their caring proactive support has enabled so many to turn their lives around and get into secure homes with hope for a better future. Please give generously and enable this fantastic work to continue.”
During the lockdown over 100 people in temporary accommodation were provided with 2 meals a day by the Padley catering team. In addition to dealing with, at times, a 650% increase in food parcels, the charity also provided 400 toiletry parcels to single homeless people.
