Digital talent on display
Fashion designers, filmmakers, musicians, artists, designers and performing artists across Bondholder Derby College Group (DCG) have launched a digital exhibition.
The exhibition has a dedicated section on the College website where each student’s work is featured, along with a short introduction to explain their inspiration and approach to the piece. Click here to view the digital exhibition.
Meanwhile, a team of Games Development students, have won gold in a global game jam, Sidequest. Entitled ‘A Friendly Potato’, their game ‘Steam Teams’ featured unique steampunk art style and music.
The bronze medal was won by a fellow student aka ‘Average Mortal’, whose game ‘Rhythm of the Fight’ was commended by judges for enabling one player to control four different characters.
DCG Vice Principal, Kate Martin, said: “We would usually be opening our doors at the Joseph Wright Centre to showcase the fantastic work by the next generation of creative talent.
“It is very important in times like this to turn negatives into positives and these students and their teachers have faced the challenges head on with great results.
“Just as everyone across the college has embraced online teaching and communications during lockdown, the digital exhibition is a fantastic platform to be able to browse the students’ work on the internet.
“Many of the curriculum areas have also been looking at different ways to provide students with virtual work experience and the Sidequest games jam has given our Games Development students an insight into this growing industry which has been rewarded with recognition by the international judges.”
