Bondholder Compendium Living has submitted its planning application for the next phase of its residential development at Castleward in Derby city centre.

Dave Bullock, Managing Director of Compendium Living said: “We are delighted to be making our planning application for the next phase of 82 new homes on John Street in Castleward. We are currently on site with 54 homes on Carrington Street and the next phase will bring our total of new homes in the area to 300 alongside the new shops, boulevard and Liversage Square that we have developed. We are looking forward to continuing our investment in this great city over the coming years and to supporting its success.”

The Castleward area will also benefit from a new £7 million 315-place school with a 39-place nursery, due to be built and opened by September 2021.

Funded by Bondholder Derby City Council, fellow Bondholder D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership, Homes England, and section 106 agreements, the school will be built on an existing car park in Canal Street and will be a mixture of one and two-storey blocks. Planning permission was granted this month with work due to begin on the school this summer.

Innovative play spaces on the roof including a running track and a slide to the ground level have been revealed as part of the design.

The Council is currently assessing sponsors who have applied to run the new school in the form of an academy trust. They are due to make a formal presentation to the council with approval of the preferred bidder during the summer and an announcement later in the year.
