Bondholders Salloway Property Consultants, Matthew Montague Architects and Bespoke Inns are linking up to transform a former petrol station in Mickleover.

Builders will start work at the end of the month to rejuvenate the former petrol station site. Bespoke Inns has already announced that it is to open a restaurant in the scheme on the corner of Limes Avenue and Uttoxeter Road.

The plan reveals a 150-seater bar and restaurant, with function suite. In addition to the bar and restaurant, the new venue will offer a beautiful function suite for parties, meetings and a much-needed new venue for wedding celebrations. Bespoke expect to create around 60-70 full-time and part-time jobs.

Holly Hammond, Marketing Coordinator at Bespoke Inns, declared: “We want to create an exciting and contemporary venue that not only offers food and service of the highest quality, but also provides a sophisticated bar area.”

A planning application is expected imminently for a health and fitness gym in another part of the development and a national cafe chain is one of a number of others who have also shown keen interest in the site which has been derelict for a decade. Its redesign and reconstruction will create an attractive focal point to the centre of the village, help to create dozens of new jobs and give a huge boost to the local economy.

Stephen Salloway, Managing Director of Salloway Property Consultants, said: “We are delighted to have resolved the future of this site. Matthew Montague has created a contemporary design which will be a perfect fit for the new restaurant and gym and be an iconic addition to Mickleover’s offer, bringing dozens of new jobs too. We are hopeful of concluding discussions on the remaining two units shortly and then the scheme will be fully pre-let.”

Stephen added: “Building work should be completed in the autumn with the units open shortly thereafter so there will certainly be even more of a buzz around Mickleover at Christmas.”
