Bondholder BurntheBook and Derby Book Festival have launched the Festival’s 2020 Illustration Programme for art students at fellow Bondholder Derby College Group.

Students from Derby College Group received a technical briefing of the project and insights into Burnthebook's way of working, from Managing Director, Phil Newson; Finance Director, Jackie Clarke; and, Publishing Director, Simon Duckworth, understanding how the project is part of the company's CSR programme.

For the past three years, Burnthebook has worked collaboratively with both Derby Book Festival and the College on developing artwork that can sit alongside articles submitted for the Festival’s Shared Writing Project from around the city.

The launch coincided with the College’s Industry Week and so demonstrated the value of business, education and culture working together on a common cause.

Helen Bauer, of Derby Book Festival Community Programme, said: “The work we do with Burnthebook helps us provide something very special to all the young people we work with. We take their writings and illustrations and publish them in a beautifully produced book that they can feel proud of and use as part of their professional portfolio.”

Phil Newson said: “We are delighted to continue to work with Derby Book Festival especially as this is a particularly special year for Burnthebook as it’s our 21st Birthday. The agency is going from strength-to-strength, with a wide range of projects including a truly exciting publishing project with a European Government, a project we were put forward for which I think is testament to our expertise and global reach.”
