Bondholder Derby Cathedral has opened a new exhibition featuring works created by two University of Derby graduates.

The exhibition, entitled Go on a Grand Tour of The Enlightenment Cathedral, is part of a regional Grand Tour project led by Bondholder Derby Museums, as well as Chatsworth House and Nottingham Contemporary Art Gallery.

Derby Cathedral commissioned sculptor Leonard Mei-Rosu and painter Danielle Stevenson to reinterpret its history and heritage. Mei-Rosu has recontextualised buildings by the 18th century architect of the Cathedral’s nave, James Gibbs. The sculptor has utilised concrete, wood and steel in the construction of his masterpieces. While Stevenson has depicted some of the Cathedral’s most famous Enlightenment-era sculptures in her work.

The free exhibition continues until 7th July.
