Bombardier Set To Seal £260m London Overground Deal
Derby train maker and Marketing Derby Bondholder, Bombardier, looks to have secured a contract worth more than a quarter of a billion pounds to supply more trains to London.
Bombardier's factory based on Litchurch Lane built the first fleet of Class 378 trains for London Overground after 2007 and has been selected again by Transport for London (TfL) to build at least 45 more trains.
Bombardier's contract win is provisional, although it is expected to be signed following a statutory ten-day standstill period. The contract includes maintenance and also contains options for more trains beyond the initial 45.
Winning the contract over competitors including CAF, Hitachi and Siemens, Bombardier said it could not comment until the ten-day standstill period had elapsed.
