Bondholder Toyota Motor Manufacturing (UK) has released images of the new Toyota Avensis which will be built at the Derbyshire factory later this year.

Although the Toyota Avensis has been in production at the Burnaston factory since 1997, this announcement gives workers at the factory added long-term job security.

The updated model brings design influences from both the new Toyota Yaris and the Toyota Mirai – a hydrogen cell car which has recently gone on sale in Japan to reduce emissions.

“The new model will deliver innovations in comfort and safety and will feature a new range of engines that promise both performance and efficiency.”

In recent years, Toyota has seen soaring sales figures in particular with hybrid-powered vehicles such as the Toyota Auris which is also manufactured in Burnaston. It is understood that the new Avensis will have a new engine line-up but it is not yet known if this will include hybrid technology.
