Toyota workers amongst 'best in Europe'

Britain's automotive workforce has been hailed as the 'most productive in Europe' according to a survey by the Automotive Council – that includes workers from Bondholder Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK's factory in Burnaston.

The survey reports that the UK's vehicle manufacturing industry is one of the hardest-working in the world and highlights the need to address a shortage of skilled engineers.

This year the factory started manufacturing updated versions of the Auris and all-new Avensis models (pictured) and the company invested £176 million in the Burnaston factory to accommodate this. In total, the company reports a massive £2.3 billion has been invested in the Derbyshire plant since the nineties.

Deputy Managing Director Tony Walker comments: “It's great to see further evidence of Britain's strengths in its world-class automotive manufacturing workforce. A competitive business environment to attract inward investment is vital to the success of any industry.

The report was developed across 18 months and continued to be updated to better inform the sector on areas to improve moving forward.
