Pub plans get planning green light
Plans to turn a former community pub in Derbyshire into a high-end food and drink establishment have been granted planning permission.
Earlier this year, Lisa Thorley, who previously ran the popular Lisa Jean Brasserie, inside the former Bennetts department store, in Iron Gate, applied to Amber Valley Borough Council to reopen The Patternmakers Arms, in Duffield, as high-quality pub/restaurant.
The pub, in Crown Street, which closed its doors over a year ago, is now set to reopen, creating 35 jobs in the process.
Work will now be able to start on the project, which includes updating the building and adding an extension.
Lisa said: “We are delighted that planning has been granted and we can now move forward with our plans to bring this popular local business back into use and provide variety and further choice to the residents of Duffield.
“To receive this decision from the planning committee is a vindication that our proposal is the right fit and will allow us to breathe new life into a locally important building, create new jobs and support local businesses.”
