Bigger premises, more support

A commercial property deal supported by Bondholder Nelsons will help regional charity Women’s Work to provide more support to those in need.

For the past 17 years, Women’s Work has been based in Charnwood Street, Derby, where it grew considerably, delivering a range of services, events, support, advocacy and practical workshops for around 200 women a year to almost 1,000 throughout 2019.

The charity targets women who have complex and multifaceted needs, including those affected by drug and alcohol misuse, women offenders, women exploited through sex work and those fleeing domestic abuse.

Law firm Nelsons provided advice to Women’s Work taking a lease at the former Sisters of Mercy Convent in Derby, which was set up in 1849 in Nottingham Road and moved to the city centre in 1862. The convent closed in 2019 and agreed to lease the city centre building to Women’s Work.
