Skills development & recruitment
Transition 2
Transition2 (T2) is a small, specialist learning provision for young adults, aged 18-25, with learning difficulties and/or Autism. At Transition2, we believe that one size fits one so we offer individually tailored pathways to active citizenship based on person-centred targets which encourage learners and their circles of support to ‘start with the end in sight’.
Colleagues at Transition2 are trained in aspects of the neuroscience of child development, adolescence and stress-regulation, so our strategies to support emerging independence are based upon proven techniques that work with the power and purpose of the brain at this crucial stage of transformation. We support young adults to understand their assets and release their potential to achieve purposeful life outcomes in their local community, through which they can make a meaningful contribution as active citizens.
The focus at T2 is maximising independence, which includes vocational outcomes in the workplace and self-management on public transport. We are currently in the process of developing opportunities in supported employment for young people with SEND in Derby, through our involvement in the Government’s Internships Work programme.
We hope to work together to address the ‘inclusion illusion’, so that disabled and Autistic citizens in Derby can be recognised as sharers of asset and skills, not just as receivers of service or charity.
