Heatons are a leading planning, environment and design consultancy. Established in 1999, the team of planners and ecologists offer expertise for housing, employment, commercial, minerals and waste management uses. We also work in energy and renewables, industrial and infrastructure sectors.

Our creative and dedicated team are committed to ensuring positive outcomes on planning applications and development proposals. We lead with passion and commitment, through negotiations with planning authorities, public engagement and consultation with stakeholders and other interested parties.

Heatons’ ecologists are experienced in preliminary ecological assessments and subsequent surveys for protected species as well as completing Ecological Impact Assessments for projects requiring EIA. We are pragmatic and proactive, ensuring that potential ecological considerations are fully accounted for and addressed early on. We are able to assess projects for biodiversity net gain and work with colleagues to enrich development proposals and offer suggestions for mitigation, compensation and enhancement.

We have a core team based in Derby but have other colleagues based in the West Midlands, Cheshire and Lancashire working collaboratively with our network of specialist technical contacts to ensure our clients receive the highest quality service and advice. We have a strong client base across Central England, but our work takes across the UK.
