Derby’s Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) have launched a golden ticket promotion to encourage people to shop local.

Visitors can collect and fill out golden tickets from city centre businesses who display Golden Ticket posters in their window.

They can then post them in one of 20 special boxes, which have been stationed in businesses across both areas, to be in with a chance to win a share of £2,000 worth of shopping vouchers.

The prize draw will take place on 14 December and four lucky winners will each receive £500 worth of shopping vouchers to be spent in local businesses.

In a joint statement, Martin Langsdale MBE, chair of the Cathedral Quarter BID and Helen Wathall MBE, chair of St Peters Quarter BID, said: “Since Covid restrictions started to ease, the BIDs have focused on organising and supporting different activities and promotions to encourage people back into the city centre.

“We know that people are keen to support local businesses and we hope that the Golden Ticket promotion is a further incentive for visitors to return to the Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter at this all-important Christmas retail period.”
