The founder of Ignite Your Inner Potential has launched a new podcast series in which he speaks to business leaders and key decision-makers.

Kul Mahay hosts the podcasts, called The Human Centred Leadership, which are available on all streaming platforms.

The weekly show will include Andy Marsh, chief executive of the College of Policing, Scott Knowles, chief executive of East Midlands Chamber and Baasit Siddiqui, best known for being on Channel 4 TV show Gogglebox and founder of Siddiqui Education.

Kul, who spent more than 30 years working with Derbyshire Constabulary before setting up his own emotional intelligence and leadership business, said: “I have been procrastinating about doing a podcast for two years now, to celebrate the great work I’ve done with some incredible organisations.

“I have interviewed incredibly fascinating people at the very top end of industries, from policing to education, from those working in public services to chief executives of top organisations and charities.

“Every single one of these guests has one thing in common; a firm belief in emotional intelligence to great effect.”

His first guest was Keith Fraser, chair of the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales.

Kul said: “Keith Fraser is someone who I have admired for a long while.

“Like me, he spent 30 years working for the police and cites his greatest achievement being the setting up the cultural and communities resource unit in London before moving to the West Midlands.

“A keen sports fan, Keith is a trustee for Sport Birmingham and the 999 Cenotaph and was appointed as a commissioner on the UK Race and Ethnic Disparities Commission by the Prime Minister.

“He impressed me with his thoughts on emotional intelligence, the pandemic and how it has affected organisations and cultures.

“Keith is very clear about what his values are and is passionate about ensuring that every young person is given the opportunity to be themselves and flourish. He was a great, first guest to have on my podcast.”

Kul’s next guest is Dr Kathryn Murray, an educational psychologist from Australia who helps teachers create learning environments that best connect with students.

His dream guest, though, would be Jacinda Ardern – prime minister of New Zealand.

Kul, who is releasing a book on emotional intelligence later this year, said: “I have a lot of respect and admiration for Jacinda Ardern, particularly for her handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

“I have contacted her office and had a reply back but, unfortunately, she has other commitments right now. Maybe I’ll get her on later in the year!”
