Mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward, will unveil the new vision for the region at the UK Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF) in Leeds this year.

The region will come together for the first time in a new East Midlands Pavilion, where investors, developers and businesses can meet the Mayor, talk to inward investment teams, including Marketing Derby for the city of Derby, and hear about a series of major commercial opportunities.

The Mayor is encouraging delegates to visit the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) Pavilion, saying: “The East Midlands is a hidden gem – but it won’t be hidden for much longer.

“When you join us at UKREiiF, we will be telling this story with a brand-new East Midlands spatial vision – bringing to life the potential for investment, business and development.”

The emerging spatial plan will include the ‘Trent Arc’, encompassing opportunities from Derby to Nottingham, including in Derby city centre, the Derby railway station masterplan and at Infinity Park Derby – part of the new East Midlands Investment Zone.

Councillor Nadine Peatfield, leader of Derby City Council and deputy Mayor of EMCCA, will join a pavilion session at UKREiiF on this, called: ‘Shaping Tomorrow: The Trent Arc’s role in the East Midlands future’, taking place on Tuesday 20 May.

Team Derby will support EMCCA’s programme in the pavilion, where a new Derby city centre office prospectus will be launched, also on Tuesday 20 May, as part of a renewed focus on bringing more Grade A office space and workers to the heart of the city.

Councillor Peatfield said: “We are looking forward to working in partnership with colleagues at EMCCA and alongside other inward investment teams in the region to help demonstrate the breadth of opportunities and depth of local expertise.”

The Mayor will be holding a dedicated launch event in Nottingham on Wednesday 7 May, to outline her vision and ambition for the East Midlands at UKREiiF and bring partners, businesses and stakeholders together ahead of the event.
