Staff at Economit have become amongst the first professionals in the UK to qualify for a new certifiable AI governance standard.

Mike Donoghue, Peter Stubley and Cassandra Mayfield are now accredited ISO 42001 Lead Auditors, positioning Economit as one of the first UK businesses to offer ISO 42001 standards implementation and audit as part of their ISO consultancy services.

With a commitment to compliance, Economit helps businesses adopt best practices to drive success in a rapidly evolving infotech landscape.

ISO 42001 is the world’s first certifiable AI governance standard, developed to provide essential guidance for managing the unique challenges of artificial intelligence.

Designed for the rapidly evolving AI landscape, this standard helps organisations balance innovation with governance while setting out a structured approach to handling AI-related risks and opportunities.

Mike Donoghue, Economit managing director and principal consultant, commented, “It’s an honour to be one of the first IT consultancy firms in the UK and potentially even the world, to be able to offer ISO 42001 standards implementation and audit to our clients.

“Interest in AI and its impact on the workplace is at an all-time high, with businesses eager to understand and adopt the world’s first certifiable AI governance standard. To have three of Economit’s consultants able to deliver this service out of only a handful of qualified professionals in the UK is a remarkable achievement.”

As the world’s first AI Management Systems (AIMS) standard, ISO 42001 is an international standard that provides a framework for managing AI risks and opportunities, encourages continuous improvement, and covers the entire AI lifecycle.
