Derby City Council is urging businesses in the city to be prepared for new recycling legislation, which is due to come into force at the end of March.

From Monday 31 March, all workplaces (businesses and non-domestic premises with 10 or more full time employees) will need to comply with the new Simpler Recycling legislation.

This could mean adding recycling collections or changing what and how you recycle your business waste.

Part of the Government’s Resources and Waste Strategy, the new laws are designed to improve recycling rates, simplify waste management and crack down on waste crime.

Applicable to homes, workplaces and schools across England, the reforms include introducing a streamlined approach to recycling and reduce bin complexity, introducing food waste collections and specifying a recyclables waste stream.

To make sure your business is ready, visit the Business of Recycling website at https://businessofrecycling.wrap.ngo/ or contact your current waste collection provider.
