East Midlands Railway has launched new wristbands to promote inclusivity and understanding for customers with specific communication needs.

The TALK Wristbands come in five distinct designs, each tailored to help individuals communicate their needs more confidently and conveniently.

The offering builds on the foundation of its popular TALK cards, which were introduced in 2023 to help customers quickly and easily communicate specific needs to EMR staff.

These cards, created in collaboration with Communication Access UK, provide messages such as “Where are the toilets?” or “Please can you assist me to the train”.

The TALK Wristbands offer an alternative, wearable option for customers seeking discreet and continuous support during their journey.

Philippa Cresswell, customer service director at EMR, said: “We understand that clear communication is crucial for a positive travel experience.

“Our new TALK Wristbands provide an additional way for customers to express their needs. By offering these wristbands free of charge, we aim to ensure every passenger feels supported and included while travelling with us.”
