BIDs announce ‘golden ticket’ winners

The Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter Business Improvement Districts have announced the winners of their annual Golden Ticket prize draw.

Four lucky shoppers – Sarah Greene, Kate Carr, Sarah Kilbane and Patrick Nyamekye – have each won a £500 voucher to spend at businesses across the two BID areas.

More than 4,000 people entered the competition, which was launched by the BIDs to encourage more people to shop local over the Christmas period.

Shoppers posted their entries into special post boxes across the city centre and four randomly selected winners were chosen.

Martin Langsdale MBE, chair of the Cathedral Quarter BID, said: “Shoppers loved posting their golden tickets into our post boxes and it was brilliant to be able to offer four people the chance to win a £500 voucher.

“Announcing the winners has been a great way to celebrate the start of 2025 – especially after welcoming so many new businesses to the city last year.”

Helen Wathall MBE, chair of the St Peters Quarter BID, said: “The Golden Ticket prize draw always attracts a huge number of entries, but this year they were exceptionally high.

“The BIDs work extremely hard to support local businesses and participation in the Golden Ticket promotion has been impressive.”
