Round-up of the latest deals done in Derby
Demand for office space in Derby is continuing unabated, according to the latest deals done in the city.
A prime example is a deal recently secured by BB&J Commercial for offices on Pride Park.
Ricardo Rail, which offers engineering and assurance services to the rail sector, has become the tenant of 25 Brunel Parkway, which provides 1,189 sq ft of space across two floors.
The letting was completed in just two weeks, demonstrating the growing demand for premium office space in the city.
Cameron Godfrey, from BB&J, who led the lease negotiations, said: “On behalf of our retained client, I am pleased to have successfully negotiated a new lease on 25 Brunel Parkway, Pride Park, in just two weeks, securing favourable terms for the landlord with Ricardo Rail as the tenant.
“This marks the third office premises we have negotiated a disposal on within Brunel Parkway in recent months, reflecting our ability to deliver results swiftly and effectively.
“The office sector is showing a strong resurgence post-Covid, with demand increasing for premium, well-located premises.”
Meanwhile, Derbion has finished 2024 with a flourish with new arrivals and existing tenants moving into larger stories.
Energy provider Tomato Energy has opened its first physical retail store at the shopping centre.
Located on Level 1, near Frasers, Tomato Energy will use its shop to continue its mission of empowering UK communities to generate their own energy and power their homes affordably with a series of tariffs designed to shake up the energy market.
The retailer aims to help locals take charge of their energy consumption, either by bringing no-up-front cost domestic solar to local homes, or by exploring a series of tariffs that can keep bills below the price cap or making the most of renewable energy available on the grid.
Beth McDonald, managing director at Derbion, said: “We’re thrilled that Tomato Energy has selected Derbion as the home for its first physical retail store.
“Tomato Energy is dedicated to providing great service and making energy accessible for everyone.
“We’re confident that the arrival of the energy provider will not only help locals save on their energy costs but also contribute to a brighter, more sustainable future.”
Health and beauty retailer Superdrug opened a new store inside Derbion at the beginning of December.
The firm has moved into a 5,446 sq ft store, which has created an additional nine staff roles.
The new store offers customers access to the latest health and beauty products, everyday toiletries, beauty treatments and luxury fragrances.
It also features its very own Beauty Studio area, where shoppers can access professional treatments at affordable prices.
Nigel Duxbury, property director at Superdrug, said “We’re delighted to open a new store in the Derbion shopping centre.
“We are confident that local customers will love and welcome the new store, as it offers a wide range of popular health and beauty brands, a luxury fragrance counter and a professional Beauty Studio.”
Finally, specialist counselling and therapy service New Leaf Derby has relocated to Kings Chambers, part of Connect Derby’s portfolio of managed workspaces.
Founded by Hazel Green, the business offers compassionate, client-focused counselling services in a safe and supportive environment.
