Derby Brewing has announced plans to create a new micropub in Darley Abbey following the acquisition of an existing venue.

The firm has taken over The Paper Mill, which is on the edge of Darley Park.

Over the coming weeks Derby Brewing is planning to transform the venue and give it a new name – Little Darley.

For now, it will trade over the festive period as it sells off existing stock, while introducing Derby Brewing’s own range.

It will then close on Monday 6 January for a full refurbishment, which will include a new cellar, which will allow it to increase the number of draft beers available.

Derby Brewing will then look to reopen the venue in the last week of January when it will be known as Little Darley.

As well as selling Derby Brewing’s own range, there will be an array of guest cask ales, craft beers, lagers and ciders on offer, as well as artisan spirits and premium wines.

There will also be fresh bean to cup coffee and hot beverages, locally produced cakes and artisan bar snacks from the deli fridge.

According to Derby Brewing, Little Darley will follow the blueprint of its award-winning Hole in the Wall micropub, in Mickleover.

Paul Harris, managing director at Derby Brewing, said: “We are delighted to have secured such a fantastic location for our next micropub.

“Darley Abbey has been a long-term target location, and we look forward to bringing the village a fantastic premium local over the next couple of months.”

Trevor Harris, founder and director of brewing at Derby Brewing, said: “We can’t wait to get our award-winning beers flowing in the heart of Darley Abbey, a location very close to my heart.

“We have some very exciting plans for the Little Darley as we transform it into a local we hope the village will be proud of.”

*A special Bondholder VIP Preview Event is set to take place on Thursday 6th February, from 4.30pm to 6pm, where Bondholders will be among the first to see the refurbished venue for themselves.
