Toyota named top manufacturer at prestigious awards

Toyota is celebrating after being named Manufacturer of the Year at a set of prestigious awards.

The car giant, whose range includes the Corolla, which is built by Toyota Manufacturing UK at Burnaston, recently secured the title at the TopGear.com Awards.

The leading automotive website and magazine recognised Toyota for the “excitement and ambition” it brings to its products while being one of the world’s largest car makers, and for its wide-ranging commitment to motor sport.

Ollie Marriage, TopGear.com’s head of car testing, said: “This award isn’t about size or scale, it’s about excitement and ambition.

“That’s relatively easy to achieve in a single car, much more difficult to achieve across a range.”

Recently Toyota’s Burnaston factory celebrating building its five millionth car.
