Animal charity launches festive fundraising appeal
RSPCA Derby has launched a fundraising appeal for the animals who will be in its care over the festive season.
The ‘Be Their Someone This Christmas’ appeal, which will run throughout December, will raise money for animals in its Abbey Street centre, who have been rescued from cruelty, freed from neglect, or saved from a life on the streets.
The charity, which is entirely self-funded, is aiming to raise £3,000 so that every animal in its care feels cherished and loved, and to ensure it can continue to take animals in over the festive period.
Lucy Bell, animal care manager at RSPCA Derby, said: “This year, dozens of animals will spend Christmas with us at the shelter, and for some it will be their very first holiday season in a safe, loving environment.
“You can help us provide care and kindness to animals who have nowhere else to go. Your generosity will light up their Christmas and remind them they are not alone.”
Penny Lockwood, RSPCA Derby’s charity manager, said: “Our branch is independently run, so we rely on direct donations to help hundreds of animals every year.
“Every donation, big and small, makes a difference to the cats, dogs, rabbits, and small furries who will be spending the holidays with our staff and volunteers this year.”
RSPCA Derby is now encouraging everyone to get involved by donating, sharing the campaign on social media, and spreading the word through your networks and communities.
