Charity makes appeal for volunteer chef

Derby Food 4 Thought Alliance has appealed to fellow Marketing Derby Bondholders for a volunteer chef to help cook Christmas dinner for hundreds of deserving people.

Thanks to its partnership with train-maker Alstom, the charity, which works to tackle food insecurity, has secured funding to provide 300 cooked Christmas dinners to individuals or couples on a low income, who would otherwise be unable to afford one.

DF4TA already has volunteers to help with prep, dishing up, labelling and packaging.

They will put together the precooked Christmas lunches of meat or vegetarian option and trimmings with a dessert and chocolate treat.

However, the charity is missing one vital ingredient – a chef to cook the dinners.

In a statement, DF4TA said: “We are hoping that there is someone in the Bondholder community who would be willing to volunteer to support us in making someone’s Christmas that little bit happier.”
