The arrival of a civil and structural engineering consultancy to a major office complex heads the list of deals completed in Derby over the past few weeks.

Inertia Consulting has confirmed its move to Cardinal Square, which is located at the junction of the A61 and A5.

The company, which operates across the UK, offers consultancy services in civil engineering, structural design, bridge inspection, and non-destructive testing to a range of clients, including the public and private sectors.

It has signed up for 7,000 sq ft of space at Cardinal Square, which is already home to a range of occupiers.

David Dyas, asset manager at Nurton Developments, which owns Cardinal Square, said: “The investment we’ve made to Cardinal Square has been well received by existing occupiers and the wider market.

“This letting is a direct result of the improvements we have made to the building.

“Inertia sought quality space to amalgamate their offices and Cardinal Square ticked the box.

“We spent time liaising with Inertia and built an excellent working relationship during what were enjoyable negotiations to ensure the letting met with their requirements.

“Flexible floorspace at Cardinal Square caters for anything from a single office up to 25,000 sq ft, providing a wealth of options for incoming occupiers while also enabling existing occupiers to expand or contract as their business dictates and according to their style of working.

“We are definitely seeing a growing trend among businesses to upgrade their space to attract and retain employees, encouraging people back into the office with a working environment which offers that all important work life balance and a stimulating and fun place to collaborate and spend time with colleagues.”

Meanwhile, the Derbion shopping centre continues to welcome new arrivals.

The latest is grab-and-go juice brand Bloom Juice Co, which has opened on Level 1 of the centre, near M&S.

The business sells a range of healthy smoothies, freshly juiced drinks, iced coffee and matcha, fruit frappes, smoothie bowls and freshly baked snacks.

The news follows a host of announcements from Derbion, including the recent openings of footwear specialists, Pavers and high-performance sportswear brand, Castore, alongside the reopening of Quiz and store expansions at New Look and Greggs.

Beth McDonald, managing director at Derbion, said: “We’re excited to announce that Bloom Juice Co. has opened in the centre, introducing a refreshing new mix of flavours to the menu at Derbion.

“With a string of recent openings and investments from new and existing brands, Derbion is continuing to go from strength to strength and we look forward to revealing more exciting news soon.”

Elsewhere BB&J Commercial has announced the successful lease of a prominent events venue in Cotton Brook Road, on the Sir Francis Ley Industrial Estate.

The space will now serve as the new home for World Missionary Agency, an organisation dedicated to providing support, care, and advocacy for those in need within the community.

The 19,761 sq ft property boasts features suited to its function as a two-storey events venue, including spacious rooms, dedicated kitchen and bar facilities on both floors, and ample parking.

Cameron Godfrey, surveyor at BB&J Commercial, said: “We’re thrilled to have reached an agreement that aligns with our client’s expectations, and we welcome World Missionary Agency as the new tenant.

“Their organisation provides essential support, care, and advocacy for those in need, actively promoting key values within the community.”

Finally, independent financial planning firm Midland Wealth Solutions has relocated to new offices, which are part of Connect Derby’s portfolio of managed workspaces.

It has moved from shared office space in St Mary’s Gate to Sadler Bridge Studios.

The company, which provides advice to individuals, families, and businesses across a range of areas, has moved in order to support its expansion and cater for its growing client base.

David Bradley, director of Midland Wealth Solutions, said: “We’d been on the lookout for a new office in Derby city centre for a while to support our expanding client base.

“We considered several locations, but Sadler Bridge Studios stood out due to its central location and facilities, especially the in-house café, meeting rooms and super-fast broadband.”

Sonia Kang, lettings manager at Connect Derby, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Midland Wealth Solutions to the Connect Derby community.

“Sadler Bridge Studios’ location is proving increasingly popular with businesses looking for a flexible working environment.”
