Firm flushed with success after family business awards win

Sustainable washroom solutions firm HSG UK is celebrating after being named one of the region’s best family businesses.

The Derby firm recently carried off the Sustainability Award at the Midlands Family Business Awards, which took place in Leicester.

The awards, organised by Wilsons, celebrate and recognise the best family businesses across the East and West Midlands.

Pride Park-based HSG UK, which was highly commended in the same category at last year’s awards, specialises in revolutionary washroom technologies, which can significantly reduce water consumption, save money and improve the environment.

Back in May, the firm was named as recipients of the prestigious King’s Awards for Enterprise, alongside fellow Marketing Derby Bondholders Midland Lead and Whitehouse Construction.

Speaking about HSG UK’s latest award, Simon Rice, founder and managing director at HSG UK, said: “We are on a roll at the minute at HSG, having won another award this year.

“Winning at the Family Business Awards was incredibly important to us, as we pride ourselves on being family-run.

“This success is not down to chance. The team have worked incredibly hard over the past 12 months on sustainability strategies to strengthen our business development.”

Simon attended the awards with his sons Tom and Joe, who have worked at the firm for a combined 10 years.

He said: “They are a prime example of what makes our family business so great.”

Bondholder businesses who were ‘highly commended’ on the night included metal recycling and waste management specialist Ward in the Best Digital Tech Innovation category.

And Derby-based Berry Group was recognised in the Fastest Growing Business category.
