Accelerator project proves to be gift from above for Abigail

The owner of a bespoke gifts firm has hailed the support she received from a project delivered by East Midlands Chamber, Derby City Council and the University of Derby, which aims to help firms grow.

Last year, Abigail Warner Ltd, which specialises in crafting bespoke stationery and gift items, got in touch about the fully funded support available from the Derby Accelerator – a project funded by UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

The Derby firm, which was founded in 2007, had been facing barriers to its growth, including lack of resources post-pandemic, which significantly impacted the retail and design studio.

Additionally, the rising cost of living and energy also posed significant challenges to the business.

The cumulative effect of all these factors presented a major hurdle in scaling the business and expanding its reach.

Since contacting Derby Accelerator, company founder Abigail has been working with business adviser Aruna Bhagwan, who has helped to refine the business strategy, understand market trends and identify new opportunities.

Through a Growth Voucher, the business has taken advantage of specialist consultancy and one-to-one support.

This tailored advice has provided insights, particularly in digital sales and marketing strategies.

Abigail was also successful in her application for a grant from Derby City Council.

This has enabled the implementation of advanced digital marketing tools and enhanced e-commerce capabilities, helping the business to expand its customer reach.
