Following the Government’s investment summit earlier this week, Marketing Derby has launched a new guide to investment opportunities in Derby.

This morning, while speaking at the launch of Rail Campus Derby – a new campus devoted to companies and organisations involved in the rail sector – John Forkin, managing director of the investment promotion agency, announced the updated Derby Investment Guide.

The guide provides potential investors with all the information they need when considering investing in Derby.

It showcases major investments the city has landed in recent years, outlines the exciting opportunities and includes important information around the city’s economy and talent pool.

Mr Forkin said: “The Derby Investment Guide is an invaluable tool when it comes to attracting investment to our city.

“It not only sets out the opportunities that exist – but also helps to answer those questions investors often ask around ‘live, work and play’.

“Such has been the pace of regeneration here in Derby that we have already had to update it – and I was delighted to announce its relaunch at this morning’s important event.”

Marketing Derby uses the Derby Investment Guide when it attends major property investment events such as UKREiiF and MIPIM.

Copies are also handed out at the Derby Property Summit, which is attended by hundreds of people from across the region and beyond.

The guide showcases many major investments which are becoming a reality, such as the £45.8 million Becketwell Live performance venue, which is due to open early next year.

Other schemes included are the Derby Market Hall, which will reopen next year following a £35 million revamp and the University of Derby’s Business School, which will also open in 2025.

Two schemes where work has recently got underway – Derbion’s Eastern Gateway and Wavensmere Homes’ Friar Gate Goods Yard – are also featured.

The guide also sets out the city’s investment opportunities, including the university’s ‘City Hub’ plans, Derby Riverside and the Cultural Heart of the City regeneration project.

The guide outlines the city’s advanced manufacturing credentials and the fact that it is home to world-class companies such as Rolls-Royce, Alstom and Toyota Manufacturing UK.

A timeline shows its track record for innovation, stretching back over 300 years, backing up Derby’s claim as the ‘UK Capital for Innovation’.

It contains cases studies of international companies who have recently invested in Derby, such as Vaillant and Getinge – and showcases premier business locations, such as SmartParc SEGRO Derby, which are creating ‘clusters’ for key sectors such as food manufacturing and nuclear.

The guide provides detail about efforts to revitalise and repurpose the city centre, including the ongoing ‘residential revolution’, where almost 8,500 new homes are either proposed, in planning, under construction or complete.

And it shines a light on high-tech businesses, such as Pax8, who have recently decided to make the city centre their base – and outlines how Derby is a city that can provide individuals with the work/life balance they crave.
