Rebuild East Midlands has launched a campaign to help raise awareness of modern slavery and spot the signs of exploited individuals in our communities.

According to the charity, which provides long-term support to adult survivors of modern slavery, the issue is a hidden reality in Derby and Derbyshire, affecting both UK nationals and individuals from other countries.

Now, to coincide with Anti-Slavery Week, which runs until Sunday 20 October, it has launched the Spot the Signs Campaign.

It aims to raise awareness of the signs of modern slavery in peopleโ€™s behaviour, appearance and habits so that anyone experiencing it can be given the right support.

The campaignโ€™s launch members are the University of Derby and Balls2 Marketing.

Rebuild is now encouraging businesses and organisations to sign up to a membership to become a Spot the Signs Ambassador.

Membership enables access to a Spot the Signs fact sheet and Spot the Signs โ€˜badgeโ€™, which can be used across social media and communication channels to show support of the campaign and the fight against modern slavery.

The campaign launch provided the focus for a Marketing Derby Bondholder breakfast, which took place this morning at Artcore.

Lesley Gladwell, chief executive of Rebuild, said: โ€œWe are proud to launch the Spot the Signs campaign and invite organisations to join us in this vital initiative.

โ€œTogether we can raise awareness that modern slavery and human trafficking arenโ€™t distant issues โ€“they happen in our own communities.

โ€œBy working together, we can make a difference and protect those at risk.โ€
