Derbion launches search for next charity partner
Derbion has launched a search for its next charity partner – and is now inviting worthy causes to put themselves forward.
Every year, as part of its ongoing Derbion Cares initiative, the centre offers a local charity the chance to receive 12 months of support through fundraising and awareness activities.
The centre is now welcoming applications from registered charities that focus on supporting the next generation of the community to help build a better future.
The successful charity must also have a dedicated team and resources for events that the centre can support.
Interested charities have until 11pm on Thursday 31 October to get their applications in.
Once the deadline closes, the Derbion Cares Committee will review all applications and create a shortlist of charities to meet face-to-face.
They will then select a cause to support throughout 2025 – with the successful charity announced in January.
The committee will then work with the chosen organisation to devise a calendar of activities and ways to support the charity throughout the year.
At the start of this year, Umbrella was announced as the charity of the year for 2024 and has so far been supported by raising more than £8,000 through various activities.
Beth McDonald, managing director at Derbion, said: “We’re excited to look for a new charity to support and move into the fourth year of our Derbion Cares initiative, which has so far supported five charities since its initial launch in 2022.
“We’re dedicated to supporting our local community, so we’re looking for Derbyshire registered charities that positively benefit the people of Derby and help the next generation build a better future.
“Examples include, but are not limited to, education, employment, children’s services, mental health, health and social welfare.
“Over the next month, we’d love to hear from local charities that would welcome support, and we look forward to once again supporting another fantastic charity in 2025.”
Emma Sarjeant, marketing and fundraising co-ordinator at Umbrella, said: “We’re incredibly grateful for the invaluable support we’ve received as Derbion’s charity partner so far.
“The funding has allowed us to reach more people in need and raise greater awareness of the support and services we offer.
“We truly encourage local charities to apply for this incredible opportunity, which opens doors to new possibilities and long-term growth.”
