Bondholders dominate DerbyshireLive Business Awards shortlist
Several Marketing Derby Bondholders are celebrating after being announced as finalists for the 2021 DerbyshireLive Business Awards, organised by the Derby Telegraph.
All of the shortlisted nominees have now been revealed for the awards, supported by BusinessLive and DerbyshireLive, in association with Champions.
The awards celebrate the very best the region’s business community has to offer – and the shortlists for the 16 categories are dominated by Bondholders.
This year, two out of the three finalists for the coveted Company of the Year title are Bondholders – Air IT and HSG. And there are a number of Bondholders who have been shortlisted in multiple categories.
In a statement, awards organisers said: “With thousands of local businesses putting Derbyshire on the map as a hub of success, the judges of the DerbyshireLive Business Awards had a real task on their hands this year.
“There were so many inspiring entries which evidenced the true resilience and passion of businesspeople throughout our county.”
As well as being shortlisted for Company of the Year, Air IT is a finalist in the Employer of the Year category, where it will compete alongside fellow Bondholders BEAR and Dains.
There are a number of Bondholders who have received three nominations.
Among them is luxury doughnut-maker Project D, which has its bakery in Derby.
The firm is up for SME Business of the Year, Start-Up Business of the Year and Business Entrepreneur of the Year.
Technology company Bloc Digital also has a hat-trick of nominations. It lines up with Project D in the SME Business of the Year category and is also nominated in the Excellence in Innovation and Excellence in Business Growth categories.
Luxury car business Baytree Cars has a brace of nominations – shortlisted in the Business Entrepreneur of the Year category, as well as Family Business of the Year.
In the Professional Services Award category, all three nominees are Bondholders – Ask the Chameleon, Rhodes Wealth Management and Timms Solicitors.
And in the Contribution to the Community Award category, Loates HR and Wathall’s will compete.
No stranger to success at the DerbyshireLive Business Awards is Ward Recycling.
This year, it is shortlisted in two categories – Family Business of the Year and Excellence in Business Growth.
Another business that has previously enjoyed success at the awards is Anoki. This year, the fine dining Indian restaurant business is once again up for the Customer Service Excellence Award.
Meanwhile, flying the flag for Marketing Derby Bondholders in the Excellence in Manufacturing category is White Peak Distillery, which is Derbyshire’s only whisky distillery.
The awards are also not just about recognising business success. They also salute organisations working in the education and charity sectors.
Among the nominees for the Not-For-Profit-Organisation Award is Safe & Sound, which aims to protect youngsters from exploitation.
Meanwhile, Embark Federation is shortlisted for the Education Sector: Business Engagement and Employability Award.
Other shortlisted Bondholders include Cosy Direct (Business Entrepreneur of the Year), Colleague Box (Start-Up Business of the Year), Scenariio (Excellence in Innovation Award), Morley Hayes (Family Business of the Year) and Work Wallet (Best Digital Transformation).
The winners will be announced at a black-tie ceremony, which is due to take place at Derby Arena on Thursday 21 October.
