Special event to mark grand opening of revamped showroom
Car dealer NK Motors is set to hold a special event to mark the grand opening of its newly revamped showroom, which has undergone a £1 million transformation.
Taking place from Friday 20 September to Monday 23 September, the celebration will mark the launch of the refurbished showroom at its site in Orient Way, Pride Park.
Customers, both existing and new, are invited to come along and enjoy special attractions, including live entertainment, wood-fired pizza, a bar and a fun zone for children.
The event will also be an opportunity for the business to reflect upon its journey so far.
NK Motors initially opened as a family run single lane MOT and service centre based in Chilwell, Nottingham in 1981.
Today, it is one of the largest independent Kia dealerships in the country employing more than 120 staff and stocking more than 150 cars across its Derby and Nottingham sites.
NK Motors was founded by Nindy Kumar more than 40 years ago – and today, the business is now led by Nindy’s son, Sanj.
The firm’s journey with Kia began in 1994 when it became the brand’s main agent.
Sanj said: “Customer service has always been our priority, and treating customers like family is something we’ve never wavered on.
“We built this business on those principles, and we continue to honour that legacy every day.
“One of the reasons we’ve been able to thrive for so long is our focus on staff retention. Many of our employees have been with us for years, some for decades.
“This isn’t just a workplace – it’s a family. When your team is happy, motivated, and feels valued, it reflects in the quality of service we provide to our customers.”
Another key to the long-term success of NK Motors has been its ability to adapt to change.
Sanj said: “The rise of the digital age has changed everything, including how customers approach car buying.
“We’ve embraced this shift by integrating digital platforms that allow customers to explore, compare, and even purchase vehicles online.
“It’s about offering flexibility and convenience while maintaining that personal connection we’re known for.”
The launch of the revamped showroom aims to reflect not just the evolution of the business, but also the Kia range as greater emphasis is placed on electric vehicles (EVs) going forward.
Sanj said: “Electric vehicles are the future, and we’re fully committed to embracing the EV age.
“Recognising the growing demand for eco-friendly transportation, we have made significant investments in EV infrastructure.
“Both of our dealerships are now equipped with additional electric charging points to meet the increasing needs of our customers.
“This is more than just keeping up with trends; it’s about doing our part to promote sustainability and support the wider transition to green energy.”
But according to Sanj, NK Motors is not just about keeping up with the present, but always looking towards the future, which is why it has made the latest seven-figure investment in its Derby site.
He said: “We’re proud of our past, but our focus is on the future.
“Our commitment to innovation, investment in our facilities, and dedication to embracing new technologies – like electric vehicles – ensures that we’ll be around for many more years to come.
“At the heart of NK Motors is the belief that, no matter how much the world changes, family values, great service, and passionate people will always lead to success.
“The automotive sector is constantly evolving, and so are we. As a family-run business, we’re not just building a company; we’re building a legacy.”
