The first episode of a new podcast series created by Pepper Dawes Media capturing Vic Handley’s preparations for an epic 3,000-mile row across the Atlantic Ocean is now available.

Back in July, Sally Pepper, of Pepper Dawes Media, revealed that retired businessman Vic had approached her to chart his preparations in the run up to the challenge, which will begin on 12 December.

As a result, the ‘One Man Went to Row’ podcast was born – and earlier this month, the first episode became available.

Vic, from Littleover, will become the third oldest person at the age of 70 to complete the 3,000-mile solo row across the Atlantic Ocean, known as ‘The World’s Toughest Row’.

The challenge, which will take him from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua in the Caribbean, is expected to take up to 85 days depending on weather.

As well as being a great personal achievement, Vic hopes to raise vital funds for four local charities close to his heart – Umbrella, Derby County Community Trust, Safe and Sound and Mind Derbyshire – while boosting the city’s profile in his boat named ‘City of Derby UK’.

In the first episode of the One Man Went to Row podcast, listeners will find out all about the man behind this epic challenge – and why he is doing it.
