Accountancy firm makes big impression with office move
Ascentant Accountancy has moved to bigger premises in a Derbyshire town less than 12 months since launching there.
The firm first arrived in Ripley in September last year – and has quickly established itself thanks to a programme of community engagement.
It has now moved to a larger office, which has allowed it to develop its ‘Business Hub’ concept, while providing more community services.
The new Business Hub provides a range of free services, including hot desking to freelancers and those working from home, who can grab a coffee, connect to the guest wi-fi and network with others.
There is also a library of business books available to those wanting to learn about how to set up their own business, digital marketing or scale-up their business.
The new offices also house the Small Business Showcase, which allows crafters and makers to display their creations in the shop window and gain visibility and exposure for their handmade goods.
Workshops and training are also available, covering topics such as Xero basics, how to start a business and how to access grants and funding for business growth.
Working with Amber Valley Community Volunteer Centre, the hub is also looking to provide Warm Wednesdays during Winter, combined with providing IT training to pensioners attending.
Meeting facilities are also available for free to community groups and charities, as well as being able to hire for other businesses.
Director Kevin Drew said: “Since opening our Ripley office, we have tapped into a need for accountancy services to be delivered differently in the local area.
“We pride ourselves on being responsive, affordable, not talking jargon and supporting the local community.
“We sponsor Butterley United Cricket Club, Ripley Town Under 15 Girls Football Club and the wildlife garden at Shipley Park.
“Our community hub provides drop-in advice sessions, training and events.
“Local business owners have been really receptive to our modern approach to providing accountancy services and are responsible for the growth that allows us to invest more locally.”
