Toyota showcases its range of mobility solutions at Olympic Games
Toyota is showcasing its range of innovative mobility devices and solutions at the Olympic Games in Paris.
The firm has opened the Inclusive Mobility Park in the heart of the French capital, which features mobility solutions that are being used for both the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
As the worldwide mobility partner of the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee, Toyota is providing sustainable inclusive mobility solutions to the athletes, officials, volunteers, accredited media, and spectators throughout the Games.
This includes supplying 845 hybrid-electric vehicles, including the Corolla Touring Sports, which is manufactured by Toyota Manufacturing UK at its Burnaston factory, in Derbyshire.
According to Toyota, the Inclusive Mobility Park, which is located near the Eiffel Tower, supports its vision and ongoing transformation towards becoming a mobility company.
Yoshihiro Nakata, president and chief of Toyota Motor Europe said: “We are very proud to open the Toyota Mobility Park in Paris, the host city of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024.
“As a worldwide mobility partner of the Games, we want to contribute to creating a more inclusive and sustainable society through mobility.
“Our solutions aim to make mobility accessible and enjoyable for everyone. We hope that the visitors will learn more about inclusive mobility, have fun and get inspired by the park.”
Among the technology being showcased at the Inclusive Mobility Park is the Accessible People Mover (APM), a battery electric vehicle designed to be used in and around the Athletes’ Village and competition sites, to transport athletes and spectators.
Also on show is a range of ‘last-mile micro-mobility solutions’, compact, easy-to-use devices that can assist people with different mobility needs in urban environments.
There are also solutions which harness hydrogen technology, such as hydrogen-powered bikes.
Mr Nakata said: “The Toyota Inclusive Mobility Park is a showcase of how technology and accessibility can go hand in hand, and how the Olympic and Paralympic Games can drive positive change in society.
“It is great to see all the innovative inclusive solutions that Toyota is bringing to the Games in one place. Their commitment to their vision of delivering Mobility for All at Paris 2024 and beyond truly comes through in this effort.”
Pierre Rabadan, Deputy Mayor of Paris in charge of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Sport and the Seine: “We are delighted to welcome the Toyota Inclusive Mobility Park to Paris, a city that is committed to promoting green and inclusive mobility for all.
“The park is a great opportunity to discover and experience the innovative mobility solutions that Toyota and its partners have developed.”
