College recognised for sustainability efforts

Derby College Group is celebrating after scooping a national award recognising sustainability in sport for the second consecutive year.

The college was recently named as the winner of the National Sustainability in Sport Award at the Association of Colleges (AoC) Sport Awards for the second time in a row.

The college’s sports curriculum team encourages practices that conserve resources, reduce waste, and lessen carbon emissions.

The college also integrates environmental education into the curriculum, teaching students about the importance of sustainability and how they can apply these principles in various aspects of their lives and future careers.

Assistant principal Nick Ramsden said: “This award really means a lot to the team and the college.

“We have and are working incredibly hard on our ongoing commitment to sustainability.

“It has been a real team effort, and we are continuously looking for ways to improve and how we can become more sustainable.”
