Derby College Group has introduced a special new award for its automotive students in memory of one of its staff.

The Wilf Award was created in memory of Adrian Clarke – affectionately known as ‘Wilf’ – who passed away suddenly aged just 47 in December.

The award was one of a number of accolades presented at the recent DCG Automative Celebration, which recognised the achievements of the college’s automotive students.

This year, the Wilf Award was awarded to Level One Automotive student, Leon Bailey.

Gareth Sullivan-Pearce, the college’s motor vehicle team manager, who led the awards ceremony, said: “Wilf was the most supportive colleague inside and outside of work.

“He would always help anybody, and nothing was too much trouble for him.

“That is why we chose the criteria for the Wilf Award to be the most supportive, polite, and cooperative student – all attributes that Wilf exemplified.”
