Runners raise hundreds for Sam’s charity
A team of runners from Ashgates IT have raised hundreds of pounds for a charity set up in honour of a five-year-old boy who died from a rare condition.
The five-strong team from the managed IT support and cybersecurity specialists raised more than £1,300 for Sam’s Superheroes after taking part in the Derby 10K.
The charity was set up in memory of Sam, who passed away in 2021 at the age of just five-years-old from the exceptionally rare Febrile Infection Related Epilepsy Syndrome (FIRES).
Established by Sam’s mum Rachel, the charity funds and carries out emotional well-being activities centred around kindness and her son’s love of animals, crafting, outdoors, music and nature.
Jon Woliter, director at Ashgates, said: “I’m immensely proud of the whole team, not only the people who were able to dust off their trainers for the race, but also those who were able to support us and cheer us on.
“It’s crucial that we help to raise the awareness of FIRES and help those suffering with it.”
