Team Derby set to fly the flag at UKREiiF
Team Derby is set to fly the flag for the city at a major real estate event, which is set to take place later this month.
The team is to attend the UK Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF), which will take place in Leeds from Tuesday 21 May to Thursday 23 May.
Accompanied by members of Derby City Council’s leadership, Marketing Derby’s inward investment team will be there to highlight city investment opportunities and pipeline projects.
Supported by a number of Marketing Derby Bondholders, they will be building upon the high levels of investor interest created at MIPIM back in March, while also creating new interest in the city’s key projects.
Team Derby will also be there to support its regional partners, including the recently formed East Midlands County Combined Authority (EMCCA) and its newly elected Mayor, Claire Ward.
Councillor Baggy Shanker, leader of Derby City Council, said: “It’s really important to keep putting Derby on the investment radar and this event in Leeds is the largest such opportunity in 2024.
“We are sending a strong team with a positive story of how we have created an investment momentum with many projects coming to fruition in our ‘olympic’ year of 2025. Our core message is there are plenty of opportunities for more.”
John Forkin, managing director at Marketing Derby, said: “UKREiiF in Leeds has become the go-to UK place to raise the city’s profile.
“We have created a programme of events that includes many of our current investors as part of Team Derby and nothing works better than third-party endorsement.
“Importantly, this will be first time that we have the support of our regional Mayor which we believe can only help.”
UKREiiF aims to connect people, places and businesses to accelerate the Levelling Up Agenda, while unlocking sustainable, inclusive and transformational investment across the UK.
It brings together the public sector – with every core UK city and region involved – alongside government, investors, funders, developers, housebuilders and more.
Team Derby has put together a packed schedule for the three-day event, which will include events, roundtable discussions and one-to-one meetings.
On Tuesday 21 May, as part of the Midlands Engine showcase at UKREiiF, a panel drawn from Derby City Council’s leadership and a range of private partners who have chosen to invest in the city, will discuss why 2025 is Derby’s “olympic” year.
And on Wednesday 22 May, Marketing Derby will be holding its own private roundtable event with a group of Bondholders from the property and investment sectors.
The theme of the discussion will be around how Derby’s heritage as a hi-tech city for 300 years underpins its investment offer today.
A full write-up of the discussion will be published in the autumn edition of Innovate Magazine (https://www.marketingderby.co.uk/resources/ ).
Team Derby will also be supporting other events, which take place during UKREiiF, including the launch of the Midlands Engine’s updated Midlands Investment Portfolio, which will include a number of city schemes.
And Team Derby will be attending a panel session organised by the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership called Focus on East Midlands: Our Time is Now, which will explain how the region is working together to unlock the £4 billion investment opportunity presented following the creation of EMCCA .
