Specialist family law service launched
Geldards has announced the launch of a specialist Shariah Family law service to help guide clients through the complexities of the dissolution of a marriage under Islamic/Shariah Law.
The newly created dedicated team is headed up by experienced senior associate Aysha Chouhdary, who is one of the few family lawyers in the UK advising on religious, cultural and international jurisdiction issues and specifically on Shariah Law and Islamic Rulings.
This new service for Muslim clients advises on the civil and religious aspects of Shariah Family Law, providing a sensitive understanding of cultural issues for clients based in the UK and overseas.
As well as offering advice on Nikah contracts alongside prenuptial agreements, the team advises clients in respect of Mahr issues, the validity of marriage, divorce and financial orders obtained abroad, Shariah divorce as well as financial matters and arrangements for children.
Aysha said: “I’m really excited about launching this new service at Geldards, having practiced in this niche area for over a decade.
“I’m passionate about providing holistic family law advice, to all my clients, and understand the nuances of religious and cultural issues.”
