Rail operator shortlisted for community awards
East Midlands Railway, along with its community partners, has been shortlisted in several categories in the Community Rail Awards.
The awards recognise the unsung heroes of the community rail world for their hard work and dedication.
EMR and its partners are finalists in seven categories – with all shortlisted projects funded by the EMR Community Fund.
Among those nominated include Routes of Remembrance, which saw EMR collaborate with local communities and station adopters to mark Remembrance Day.
EMR’s efforts to promote visitor attractions along its network and its work with Derwent Valley Line Community Rail Partnership and Heights of Abraham has also been shortlisted.
Kaye Robinson, EMR’s community engagement manager, said: “We are delighted to see so many of our community projects shortlisted in the Community Rail Awards.
“All of our partners work really hard to enhance and engage in the communities they live in, from encouraging sustainable travel for tourist attractions such as the Heights of Abraham and Creswell Crags to marking Remembrance through the medium of art.”
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Swansea on 18 March.
