Welcome to the new Dean of Derby

The new Dean of Derby, the Very Revd Dr Peter Robinson, will be arriving in Derby and taking up his new role at Bondholder Derby Cathedral at the beginning of July.

Provisionally the date for the installation has been set as Sunday 19th July at 4.00 pm. The service will be conducted without a congregation physically present, but it will be filmed by a team from fellow Bondholder QUAD and livestreamed from the Cathedral.

Elizabeth Thomson, Acting Dean, said: “You are very warmly invited to watch and give Peter and his wife Sarah your welcome and support online. We look forward both to the start of his ministry here and to being able to welcome people into their Cathedral once again.”

Full details of the installation service will be confirmed soon.

The Bishop of Derby will license Peter on 4th July, formally enabling him to begin work from then onwards. Peter’s arrival will coincide with the reopening of the doors of Derby Cathedral.

Elizabeth added: “When guidance allows us to gather in larger numbers, we look forward to being able to hold an event in the Cathedral at which Peter can be welcomed in person.”
