Bondholder Ask the Chameleon has helped an online education service secure Government funding – see offer details for her tender alert service here.

Rachel Hayward, Director of Ask the Chameleon, has helped secure £50,000 of Government funding for You Teach Me (YTM), a company set up by a former Derby headteacher to safely share quality teaching between the classroom and the kitchen table.

Rachel helped YTM to apply for funding from Innovate UK which aims to drive productivity and economic growth by supporting businesses to develop the potential of new ideas.

The highly competitive process attracted more than 8,600 applications from UK businesses and only 400 were successful.

The grant will enable YTM to re-build onto a cloud-based system. This will increase capacity and pave the way for more schools, parents and children of all ages across the UK, and then worldwide, to access the online materials through lockdown and beyond.

Rachel said: “There are a number of new opportunities for businesses and organisations to apply for Covid-19 specific funding but the timescales are often very tight and the criteria highly specific.

“As a fresh pair of eyes, I was able to ensure that the application to Innovate UK’s £40 million fund exactly mirrored their aims to fast-track the development of innovations borne out of the coronavirus crisis while supporting the UK’s next generation of cutting-edge start-ups – helping to build the businesses of tomorrow and propel their future prosperity.”

Over the past 12 weeks, Rachel has been searching for tenders and grants for small businesses and charities in the Midlands, whittling down around 500 that are now available as an e-bulletin, which normally costs £95 per month.

Wanting to help local businesses, Rachel decided that, for her birthday this year, she will offer two editions of the e-bulletin for free, for anyone emailing her at rachel@askthechameleon.co.uk with 'Tender Alert YES PLEASE' in the subject heading.

Packed with tenders, development grants for small businesses and grants for charities, this is a great way to see what is on offer in your sector, and whether any of these opportunities could be just the contract/grant to help with your recovery plans. There is no obligation to sign up and you can share it with others as well.
